The spot commands views across the surrounding countryside, so even if you're not particularly interested in how the thing works, the walk up is worthwhile for that alone.

It's more of a destination for walkers than sightseers, to be honest. The hill gives you a decent climb and the panorama at the top makes for a pleasant break mid-ramble. If you're staying at Hill Top Caravan Park or Ragdale Glamping, both close by, this could slot neatly into an afternoon's exploring without eating much time. The practical bit: access appears unrestricted and free, which is rare enough to mention. Wear decent shoes - the ground can be muddy depending on season. Allow twenty minutes to walk up from the car park, then however long you fancy lingering. Best in decent weather when you can actually see something from the top.
