The Brambles

The Brambles is a proper woodland walk tucked away near Driffield, and it's the sort of place that rewards you for knowing about it. You're wandering through dense forest with plenty of bramble thickets - hence the name - mixed with birch and oak. The paths wind through what feels like genuine countryside, away from the noise of the main roads, though it's only minutes from town.

This works best for walkers who want something low-key rather than a destination experience. Families with young children might find it a bit limiting - the trails are pleasant enough but nothing dramatic, and there's not much in the way of facilities or open spaces for running about. If you're staying at Seaways Glamping or Wolds Glamping Pods nearby, it makes sense as a morning ramble before heading somewhere more substantial. Allow an hour or so, depending on how lost you're willing to get in the trees.

The Yorkshire Wolds aren't known for dramatic forestry, so keep expectations honest. It's a green escape rather than a scenic showstopper. Best visited in spring when the woodland floor comes alive, or autumn when the light filters through nicely. You won't need to book anything - it's free and informal - but do wear proper walking boots because the ground gets boggy after rain.
