About The Firs
This works brilliantly for families who want their kids actually tired by the end of the day, and for anyone who just needs to clear their head. Dog walkers love it too. The terrain isn't brutal - mostly flat or gently rolling - so it suits most fitness levels, though proper footwear matters when it's wet. Allow an hour minimum, though two hours is better if you're in no rush.
There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need. Free access as far as I can tell, though always worth checking locally. It plugs neatly into a forest and camping break in the area - Woodlands Camping is barely a mile away, and Hampshire Hills (the former Two Hoots) sits about four miles off, both solid bases if you're planning a longer stay. The Watercress Line steam railway runs through Alresford too, so you could combine woodland rambling with a bit of vintage railway if the mood takes you. Nothing fancy, just proper forest.
