The Framery - Flower Preservation

The Framery is a flower preservation workshop run by actual craftspeople who've genuinely mastered the art of keeping blooms looking fresh indefinitely. You walk in and there are preserved flowers everywhere - roses, peonies, hydrangeas - arranged in frames, wreaths, and glass domes. The colour saturation is almost unnatural; these aren't dried arrangements that fade to beige over time.

The main draw here is watching the process or, better yet, commissioning a bespoke piece. They'll take your wedding bouquet, a favourite bloom from your garden, or arrange something from scratch using their stock. The frames themselves are lovely - minimalist metal or wood designs that let the flowers do the talking rather than competing for attention.

It's genuinely absorbing for about 90 minutes if you're into florals and interior design. Less so if you're just after a quick gander. Worth the drive from Sheffield if you've got a specific project in mind - a memorial arrangement, a wedding keepsake, something for an awkward wall space. Parents with young kids will find it a bit static unless the children are already keen on flowers.

The workshop sits reasonably close to Secret Wood Glamping if you're planning a Derbyshire weekend. The glamping site itself gets mixed reviews, but having The Framery nearby gives you at least one decent rainy-day activity that doesn't involve another National Trust car park.
