Art galleries in seaside towns can be hit or miss, but The Gallery Norfolk, just outside Cromer, deserves a proper look if you're staying in the area. It's a contemporary space that punches above its weight - local and regional work sits alongside touring exhibitions, so there's genuine variety depending on when you visit.

The space itself is well-curated without feeling sterile. You'll find painting, sculpture, photography and occasionally installation pieces. It's not massive - you can get through it in an hour or so without rushing, which makes it ideal if you're holidaying nearby and want something low-key on a rainy afternoon. Families with kids interested in art will appreciate the scale; those after a full day immersion should probably head to Norwich instead.

Worth checking ahead on opening times and current exhibitions, as programming changes seasonally. Admission details aren't crystal clear online, so ring ahead or pop in when you're in Cromer itself - it's close enough that it's worth factoring into a morning's wandering around town.

If you're staying at The Grove Glamping or Seacroft just down the road, this is genuinely convenient. Pairs well with a walk along the cliffs or fish and chips on the seafront. Not a reason to visit Norfolk on its own, but absolutely worth an hour if you're already there.
