The Lumb

Walk into The Lumb and you're immediately surrounded by proper woodland - the kind where you can actually lose the sound of traffic within minutes. The woodland floor is soft with leaf litter, and the whole place has that satisfying quiet that makes you remember why you left the car park behind. Allow an hour or so to properly explore without rushing.

Coming from Rother Valley Country Park just five miles away gives you options - you could easily pair a woodland walk through The Lumb with time at the water, or use it as a break from a longer park stay at Waleswood. It's the kind of spot that rounds out a weekend in South Yorkshire rather than being the main event, but that's exactly what makes it useful.

Free access and no faffing about with opening hours mean you can slip in whenever suits. Best visited when it's not waterlogged - autumn and spring are probably your sweetest windows.
