The Roseland Heritage Coast

The Roseland Heritage Coast stretches along Cornwall's south coast with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and a proper sense of remoteness that's harder to find these days. This isn't a single attraction with a visitor centre - it's a stretch of genuinely wild coastline where you walk among windswept gorse, spot red squirrels if you're lucky, and find yourself alone on beaches that feel miles from anywhere.

The appeal here is straightforward: walkers. The South West Coast Path runs through it, and you'll get some of the best cliff-top walking in Cornwall without the hordes you'd find further east. The coastal views are genuinely arresting - steep drops, turquoise water below, and enough solitude to actually hear yourself think. Families with older kids will cope fine on the established paths, though younger ones might struggle with some of the steeper sections.

Part of the draw is what isn't here. No ice cream vans, no themed attractions, no queue. It costs nothing to access the coastline itself, though parking can be tight in summer. You'll want a good two to three hours minimum if you're doing any serious walking, longer if you're combining it with a beach stop.

Fir the area, it's well positioned for caravan life. Veryan Camping and Caravanning Club Site sits just 5.4 miles away and gets five-star ratings for good reason. The Beeches Glamping is similar distance if you fancy something a touch more comfortable. From either base, you've got genuine Cornish coast without feeling like you're on a conveyor belt.
