Merrins Meadow

Merrins Meadow sits quietly near St. Erme, a proper chunk of Cornish countryside that feels worlds away from the tourist drag. It's essentially an open meadow - not dramatic cliffs or anything theatrical, just good walking country with the kind of views that make you understand why people move to Cornwall and never leave.

You're looking at a straightforward spot for a leg-stretch, ideally suited to families who've had enough of attractions and need space for kids to burn off energy. Walkers will appreciate it too, though don't expect marked trails or visitor facilities. This is the sort of place you do on foot from St. Erme itself - the kind of ramble where you might see nobody else for twenty minutes.

Timing-wise, allow an hour or so, depending on how far you fancy going. There's no admission charge as far as I can tell - it's just open land. Best visited on a dry day; after rain it gets properly muddy.

If you're based at The Beeches Glamping or Monkey Tree Holiday Park just down the road, Merrins Meadow works as a morning walk before heading to the coast. It's close enough to the Roseland area and St. Austell to fit into a proper park holiday without eating up half your day. Worth the detour if you're after genuine countryside rather than another Instagram moment, but be honest with yourself - if you need facilities and drama, look elsewhere.
