Threeper's Drumble

A proper woodland walk tucked away near Crewe, Threeper's Drumble is the kind of forest you stumble across rather than plan for - and that's exactly its appeal. It's small enough that you won't spend your whole day here, but dense enough with trees and paths that you'll feel genuinely away from it all. The woodland has that old-growth feel to it, with decent footpaths threading through, making it fine for families with older kids or anyone after a straightforward ramble without the crowds of bigger country estates.

Don't expect visitor facilities or interpretive signs - this is just trees, paths, and the occasional bit of wildlife if you're lucky. A solid hour's walk covers most of what's on offer, though you could stretch it to ninety minutes if you're taking photos or moving slowly. It's free to access, which helps. The best time is autumn when the light filters through properly, or spring when things are actually growing instead of dripping.

If you're basing yourself at Sunny Side Touring Park or The Willows just down the road, Threeper's Drumble makes a decent morning out before heading elsewhere. It's not a major event - more of a palate-cleanser between bigger attractions. Worth twenty minutes' drive if you're in the area and fancy stretching your legs somewhere green, but don't rearrange your entire holiday around it.
