Torberry Copse

A proper woodland walk through Hampshire's quieter side, Torberry Copse sits just outside Petersfield and delivers exactly what it promises - trees, paths, and the kind of silence you don't get near town centres. The forest isn't vast, but it's dense enough that you'll lose sight of the car park within minutes. Locals come here for dog walks and weekend rambles, and it's easy to see why. The canopy is thick, the undergrowth manageable, and there's a genuine sense of stepping into proper countryside rather than a managed nature reserve.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's not a stroll-around-for-twenty-minutes job; you need proper time to appreciate the place. Allow a good hour at minimum, longer if you're the type to stop and identify trees or listen for birds. The paths are reasonably well-trodden but can get boggy in wet weather, so decent footwear matters. Kids might find it a bit samey after the first fifteen minutes unless they're the sort who enjoy building dens and finding sticks.

If you're based at Adhurst Yurts or Bow Hill Farm - both cracking spots nearby - this makes an easy half-day addition to your stay. It's not a destination in itself, but paired with a picnic and the surrounding footpath network around Petersfield, it rounds out a solid day outdoors.
