About Torcross Beach
It's a working beach in the best sense - fishing boats still operate here, there's a small lifeboat station, and the whole place has that authentic, slightly worn quality that means it hasn't been over-developed. Families with younger kids might find the shingle tiring after an hour or so, but older children and teenagers will get decent swimming and rock-pooling in season. Walkers will find it a proper base for exploring the South Devon coastal path - you can head east towards Slapton Sands or west towards Hallsands, both walks worth doing. The village has a couple of cafes and pubs, nothing fancy, which is precisely why it works.
Torcross sits almost on top of Start Bay Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, making it dead convenient if you're staying there. Wilton Farm Camping is a few miles back inland but still within easy striking distance. The beach itself is free to access and open year-round - though winter storms here can be something else.
