Traeth Bach

Sand and shingle stretching out toward the Irish Sea - Traeth Bach is one of those Anglesey beaches that doesn't shout about itself. The name means 'small beach' in Welsh, and that's exactly what you get: compact, manageable, and far less heaving than some of the island's more famous spots. The beach itself is decent enough for paddling and a proper swim if the tide's in your favour, with rock pools to poke about in when it's out. A handful of locals know it well; most visitors drive straight past heading for Newborough or Rhosneigr.

It's the quietness that makes it work, honestly. Families with small children can let them loose without worrying about the crowds, and walkers get a solid stretch of sand without fighting for space. The beach sits just north of Cemaes Bay, so you're never far from a cup of tea or a fish supper if you need one. Bring a bucket and spade, a picnic, and sensible shoes because the shingle can be fierce underfoot.

The real strength here is its position as part of a broader beach-hopping loop around north Anglesey. Couple it with nearby Cemaes itself, and you've got a proper day sorted. If you're based at Dolydd campsite - just half a mile away - it's practically on your doorstep. Not a day-trip destination by itself, but absolutely worth knowing about if you're in the area. Pack your own supplies; facilities are minimal to non-existent.
