The place feels genuinely lived-in rather than polished for tourists - you're looking at the real deal, not some recreation. The building itself is substantial brick, the kind that doesn't apologise for its industrial purpose.

Inside, you get the full picture of how malt gets made, from grain to roasted product. There's actual equipment on show, the kind that's been there for decades, and you can see where the different stages happen. It's the sort of thing that makes sense once you're walked through it, but honestly feels a bit impenetrable if you're not into that side of brewing.

The catch is that Tuckers Maltings is currently closed. Before planning a visit from one of the nearby parks - Dornafield or Parkdean Resorts are both within a few miles - you'll need to check whether it's reopened. Worth ringing ahead rather than turning up.

It's genuinely interesting if you're the type who cares about how things are actually made, and particularly good for anyone with a serious interest in beer production or local industrial history. Families with younger kids might find an hour enough; they're not going to run around much. You're looking at a proper industrial museum, not a hands-on experience centre.
