Twlc Point

Standing at the westernmost tip of the Gower Peninsula, Twlc Point offers one of those proper wild Welsh coastline experiences that makes the journey worthwhile. The rocky outcrop juts into the Bristol Channel, giving you sweeping views across to Devon on clear days and down the dramatic Gower coastline towards Rhossili.

Getting here requires a decent walk from the nearest car park - about twenty minutes along coastal paths that can get muddy after rain. The point itself is essentially a grassy headland with rocky edges, so it's not one for those who struggle with uneven terrain or fear heights. Walkers and photographers will love it, particularly at sunset when the light catches the cliffs perfectly.

Families with young children might find it a bit challenging, though older kids who enjoy scrambling about will have a whale of a time exploring the rock pools when the tide's out. There's no facilities here whatsoever - just you, the elements, and some cracking views.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Hillend or Pitton Cross, this makes for a brilliant morning expedition before the crowds arrive at the more famous Gower beaches. Allow a couple of hours including the walk, and bring waterproofs - the weather can change quickly out here on the point.
