Tysoe Windmill Footpath Entrance

The walk up to Tysoe Windmill starts unassumingly from a modest footpath entrance just outside Warwick. What you're climbing towards is the restored windmill itself, perched on high ground with proper countryside views spreading out across Warwickshire. The path is straightforward enough - about a mile or so depending on which route you take - and the whole outing takes a couple of hours if you're not rushing.

It's a walkers' thing, really. History enthusiasts will appreciate the mill itself, which has been carefully restored and stands as a decent example of Victorian engineering. The views from the top of the hill are the main draw though - on a clear day you can see across valleys and rolling farmland that genuinely rewards the climb. Children might find the walk a bit of a slog if they're not keen hikers, but older kids interested in industrial heritage or just wanting a decent day out won't complain.

If you're camping nearby - Shire Camping and Crofts Barn are both within striking distance - this makes an excellent half-day excursion to break up the routine of the campsite. The footpath is free to use and you can turn up whenever suits you. Early morning or late afternoon tends to be quieter. Bring proper walking shoes rather than trainers; the path can be muddy after rain. It won't blow your mind, but it's a solid reason to get out and move.
