Venn Close Coppice

A proper woodland walk just outside Tiverton, Venn Close Coppice is the sort of place you'd stumble upon by accident and end up recommending to friends. The coppice itself is dense with mature trees - oak, beech, and hazel mostly - creating that cathedral-like quiet you only get in proper old woodland. The ground is soft with leaf litter, paths wind through in a fairly gentle fashion, and it's the kind of place where you might actually spot something interesting if you keep your eyes open.

It's ideal for walkers wanting something close to civilisation without feeling manicured. Families with younger kids will find it manageable for an hour or so, though honestly it's not somewhere you'd spend a full afternoon unless you're genuinely into identifying tree species. The real appeal is the simplicity of it - no visitor centre, no facilities that we could find, just trees and quiet. That's either brilliant or a bit underwhelming depending on what you're after.
