The Visitor Centre near Cemaes Bay is your first port of call if you're planning to explore Anglesey properly. It's the sort of place that takes twenty minutes to whip through or an hour if you're genuinely interested in what makes this corner of North Wales tick. You'll find the usual suspects - maps, leaflets, local knowledge - plus exhibits about the area's history and natural landscape. Staff tend to be chatty and helpful, which makes a real difference when you're trying to work out where to spend the next few days.

It works best for people who are new to the island and want some bearings before heading out. Families might grab a leaflet and dash, but walkers and history types will find enough to make it worthwhile. The gift shop has the standard postcards and guidebooks, nothing spectacular but useful if you've forgotten something.

Given that Dolydd and Llain Ffynnon campsite are both within easy reach, the Visitor Centre sits naturally into a camping trip. Pop in when you arrive, get your bearings, pick up a walking map or two, then head back to base. It's not a destination in itself - think of it as the warm-up lap rather than the main event. Free to enter, though opening hours can be a bit variable depending on the season, so ringing ahead isn't a bad shout if you're making a special trip.
