Warren Wood feels like stepping into a Brothers Grimm tale - all dappled light filtering through the canopy and moss-covered fallen logs that make perfect perches for a quick rest.

Dog walkers absolutely love this place, and you'll spot plenty of locals making their daily pilgrimage along the main circular route. The paths are clearly marked but can get a bit muddy after rain, so decent boots are wise. Kids enjoy the natural playground aspect - there's something irresistible about scrambling over those massive fallen trunks.

Bird watchers do well here too, particularly in spring when the dawn chorus is properly spectacular. Allow an hour for a leisurely wander, though you could easily spend longer if you're the type to stop and actually listen to the woodland sounds.
