Windmill Hill

The walk up to Windmill Hill rewards you with proper views across Worcestershire - the sort that make you understand why people bothered building a windmill here in the first place. It's not particularly high, but it's high enough, and the approach from Stratford-upon-Avon takes you through decent countryside without being a death march.

You'll find the remains of an old windmill at the summit - not much left, to be honest, but enough to give the spot some character. The real draw is the panorama. On a clear day you can see for miles, and there's something satisfying about standing where centuries of people have stood and looking at the same landscape they saw.

This works best for walkers with a bit of time to spare rather than families after a quick outing - youngsters might find the actual windmill disappointing given the modest remains. The walk itself is manageable though, not punishing. Allow a couple of hours including a breather at the top with a thermos and some biscuits.

If you're based at Ranch Caravan Park or Monks' Barn Farm, both within six miles, you've got a solid half-day excursion that fits neatly between larger attractions. It's the sort of place worth the detour if you're genuinely interested in old structures and landscape history, less so if you're after Instagram moments. The Worcestershire views are genuine enough, and that's really the point.
