Wiswell Moor

The walk up Wiswell Moor from Clitheroe is short, sharp, and absolutely worth the effort. You're looking at maybe forty minutes to the summit if you're moving at a decent pace, but the views across the Ribble Valley make it feel longer in the best way. On a clear day you can see proper distance - the moorland opens up around you and suddenly Lancashire makes sense.

What strikes you most is how accessible this is. It's not some eight-hour slog that requires proper fell-walking experience. Families with kids of ten or older will handle it fine, though the initial climb is steep enough that younger children might struggle with the pace. The path is well-trodden and obvious, which matters when you're pushing through bracken. Allow two hours if you're taking your time and stopping for the view.
