About Woodfield
It's most useful for families with primary-school-aged kids who need to burn off energy without the crowds you'd get at a proper country estate. The paths aren't challenging - more of an amble than a hike - so it works well for an hour or so before lunch. Dog walkers absolutely love it here, unsurprisingly.
Walking time depends entirely on which route you pick, but reckon on ninety minutes for a decent loop without rushing. There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need. If you're basing yourself at Sunny Side Touring Park, it's close enough for a morning outing, though the park itself has more manicured grounds. Go when the weather's been dry - mud gets thick here after rain and boots disappear up to the ankle. Spring and early autumn are ideal: fewer midges, good light, and the woodland's actually got something to look at.
