Woolsbarrow Fort

Ancient earthworks crown this modest hill just outside Wareham, marking where Iron Age settlers built their stronghold over two millennia ago. The fort's ramparts and ditches remain clearly visible, forming rough circles that once protected a thriving community from raiders and rival tribes.

Climbing to the top takes about ten minutes through heathland dotted with gorse and heather. The views across the Purbeck Hills are lovely on a clear day, though honestly, you're here more for the history than the scenery.
