Wuddy Law rises out of Aberdeenshire's rolling landscape like a proper little sentinel - nothing dramatic, but commanding enough to reward the climb. It's a straightforward hill walk rather than a scramble, which means most reasonably fit people can get to the summit without needing specialist kit.

The views from the top stretch across farmland and moorland toward the coast. On a clear day you can see well beyond Arbroath. The walk itself takes an hour or so depending on your pace and the approach you take - there are a few routes up, none of them particularly technical. The ground can be boggy after rain, so decent boots matter more than you'd think.

This is a walker's hill, not a spectacle. You won't find tourist infrastructure up here - no café, no visitor centre, just you and the wind. Family groups with older kids will manage it fine. Younger children might find it a slog. History enthusiasts will appreciate that you're walking through land with serious archaeological credentials, though there's little signposting to explain it.

If you're based at The Grange Glamping just down the road near Arbroath, this makes a cracking morning outing before heading back for lunch. It's the sort of walk that feels properly Scottish without being showy about it - low-key, honest, and worth the effort on a decent day. Worth the detour if you're in the area, but don't expect it to be the highlight of your trip.
