Gwerniago Campsite

Don't come here if you want peace and quiet! Maybe school holidays are much worse, but I've never stayed somewhere with so much noise and so little regulation from the owners. We stayed for 3 nights and every night we had to ask people to stop playing loud music at or after 11pm, pretty unsuccessfully. There were kids running around screaming into the middle of the night and no marked pitches, so ...

Our pitch was very steep, especially in one of the back corners. Paid for fully serviced, but couldn't use the drain because it was on the highest back corner and water won't flow up hill! Facilities were clean and good but not enough for such a large site. However, the views were stunning.

Stopped for two nights. Nice campsite with good facilities. Good sized serviced pitch with a picnic bench. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. There was a laundry room available at a charge and also a cabin with fridges and freezers available for use.

Absolutely our favourite campsite of all time. We've recently rediscovered our love for camping (tent-based) thanks to Gwerniago being recommended by a family member who is herself a regular visitor. What a well designed and beautiful site, all credit to the owners. Pub 20 min walk away. No local shops so be prepared. Water, hook up, lovely camping pitches too. Beautiful views can only be appreciated with the eye, the camera does no justice.
