This campsite is run by the National trust and very good value for money. It’s on the edge of Lake Windermere and has a variety of pitches and camping pods. The shop and reception are open all year with various hours. The showers were hot, kitchen sinks had hot water. Toilets were clean. Lots of lovely walks in the area and the campsite is very quiet and rural set in the woods. Definitely worth a ...

A lovely location for Ambleside, the ferry doesn’t come there in winter but the bus stop is just at the top of the lane and the walk in only took us an hour and a half. Facilities were warm and showers hot.

I’d like to give a special mention to the lovely ladies who work in the shop at Low Wray Campsite. They were so kind and helpful. We asked for advice on how to get back to Windermere, and even though the ferry service wasn’t running anymore, they went out of their way to help us find a solution. Excellent NT campsite. Some pitches right next to the water. Pizza restaurant and takeaway is great. Good facilities and shop. Staff are always friendly and helpful and generally seem a very happy bunch! We're booked in for our 3rd year.

Loved Low Wray campsite! Not your traditional campsite as all the pitches are a bit randomly scattered through the forested area, but that’s what we liked about it, it felt like real camping with the convenience of a power hook up!
