All Saints Church : Ecclesall

The stone church sits quietly on Ecclesall Road, a proper Victorian thing with decent stained glass and a history that stretches back further than you'd expect for somewhere this close to Sheffield's sprawl. Inside, the light comes through in colours - blues and reds mostly - and there's enough Victorian detail to keep you occupied for twenty minutes if you're into that sort of architecture. The graveyard's worth a wander too, all uneven headstones and old Sheffield names.

It's best for anyone with a passing interest in Victorian churches or local history rather than families with restless kids - there's not much to do beyond looking and reading plaques. The whole visit takes about half an hour maximum. You won't need to book or pay (these village churches rarely do), but do check it's actually open before you trek out - opening hours vary wildly.

If you're camping at Fox Hagg Farm or Wyming Brook Farm, both within a few miles, it's a decent rainy-afternoon option. Park the car, stretch your legs, have a look around. The Ecclesall area itself is pleasant enough - tree-lined streets, proper suburban - but this is more about ticking a box than discovering something extraordinary. Worth the detour if you're already exploring south Sheffield, but don't go out of your way specifically for it.
