The walk to All Saints' Church in Fring rewards you with one of Norfolk's least fussed-over medieval buildings - which is precisely why it's worth the trip. You'll find a proper 14th-century church sitting quietly at the end of a country lane, its flint walls and simple tower the sort of thing that makes you realise how many remarkable buildings languish unknown in the English countryside.

Inside, the space is austere and honest. There's a lovely hammerbeam roof - those aren't common - and the kind of worn flagstones that suggest centuries of footfall. The windows are modest, the fixtures functional. No fussing about with Victorian restoration here; it feels like stepping into a building that's been getting on with its job for 600 years without needing to make a song and dance about it.
