Allt Graig Wion

This woodland sits tucked away near Llandysul, a proper working forest rather than a manicured country estate. You're walking through dense Welsh woodland - the sort of place where the canopy does most of the talking and you barely hear the road. Paths wind through, though they're not always obvious, so come prepared for a bit of orienteering rather than strolling.

It's ideal for people who actually like forests - walkers after a decent leg-stretch, families with kids old enough not to need constant entertainment, and anyone after that feeling of being properly away from things. A couple of hours works well, though you could easily spend longer if you're photographing or just sitting quietly. The woodland's the whole draw here; there's no visitor centre or tea room faffing about.

Head here on a dry day if you can. Wet mud and dense tree cover don't mix brilliantly. It's free to access, which is worth knowing.
