Allt Pyllau'r Bryn

The forest at Allt Pyllau'r Bryn sits a few miles outside Llanybydder, a proper little pocket of woodland in the rolling Ceredigion landscape. It's the sort of place locals know about and tourists miss entirely, which is rather the point. You're looking at a modest woodland walk through mixed forest - nothing dramatic, nothing that'll take your breath away, but solid woodland nonetheless. The paths meander through the trees, and there's a decent sense of peace once you're in among them, away from the road.

This works best for people who actually enjoy woodland walks rather than those after Instagram shots. Families will find it manageable - kids can burn energy without the pressure of summiting something - and dogs get a proper outing here too. Allow an hour or so, maybe ninety minutes if you're moving slowly and stopping to look at things. It's free to access, which is always welcome.

If you're based at one of the nearby parks - The Three Spaniels is closest at just under two miles - this makes a decent half-day activity without requiring a car journey. It's not the kind of forest that warrants a special trip from further afield, but if you're already in the area for a cottage break or camping, it's worth knowing it's there.
