Arbury Hill

The climb up Arbury Hill takes about twenty minutes if you're moving at a decent pace, and it's worth every step. You're looking at roughly 225 metres of elevation, which isn't mountaineering but does test the legs - the path gets steeper the closer you get to the summit. What makes it worthwhile is the view across Warwickshire once you crest the top. On a clear day you can see proper distances, all rolling fields and distant woodland stretching toward the horizon.

This is one for walkers who want a proper outing without needing crampons or a permit. The hill sits just outside Daventry, making it accessible from a string of nearby campsites - Whitefeather is barely a mile away, and there's glamping options at Hideaway Wood Farm and EWE if you fancy something less traditional. It's the sort of walk that takes two hours total with a breather at the top, then you're back for lunch.

The ground can be boggy after rain, so waterproof boots aren't optional - I learned that one the hard way. Summer weekends draw the usual foot traffic, but midweek visits feel properly peaceful. Families with school-age kids will manage fine; the path is clear enough and there's a genuine sense of achievement for younger walkers when they reach the summit. The view alone keeps people entertained for a good half-hour. It's not dramatic, and it won't replace a Lake District fell walk, but as a solid morning ramble from your campsite, it does the job admirably.
