Arfordir Treftadaeth Mynydd Tŵr

The cliffs at Mynydd Tŵr rise sharp and dramatic from the Irish Sea, just a short walk from Holyhead. This is proper windswept coastal terrain - heritage coastline that's been shaped by salt spray and Atlantic gales for centuries. The landmark itself marks an important stretch of Anglesey's archaeological story, with evidence of human settlement going back millennia.

What you get here is less a tidy visitor attraction and more a wild, working piece of Welsh coastline. You're walking the edge of something genuinely ancient, with views that stretch across open water towards Ireland on a clear day. The path itself is straightforward enough, though it can be boggy after rain and the wind has teeth even in summer.

Walkers will find this worthwhile - it's the kind of place that rewards a detour if you're exploring the Anglesey coast anyway. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of exposure and rough ground will get something out of it too. Younger children might find it less engaging unless they're keen on rocks and views. There's no cafe, no visitor centre, no facilities to speak of. That's rather the point.

It fits neatly into a coastal holiday around Holyhead - the nearby caravan parks at Coastal Pods and Two Peas in a Pod are close enough for an afternoon ramble. Go early or late to avoid the worst of the wind and to catch the light properly. Free to visit, naturally. Allow an hour minimum, longer if you're photographing or just sitting with the weather.
