The woodland at Ashley Wood sits just outside Canterbury, a proper slice of quiet forest that doesn't demand much but rewards a wander. As a base for a park holiday - New Beach Holiday Park is about five miles away, or Fallow Fields over at Dymchurch if you prefer something with a slightly higher rating - Ashley Wood works as a morning activity. Don't expect signage or visitor facilities. Go early if you want solitude, and wear proper shoes because it can get boggy in patches.

Worth the stop? If you're already in the area and the weather's decent, absolutely. Don't go out of your way for it though.
