What you get instead is a straightforward walk through managed woodland - the sort of place that makes sense if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks and fancy a couple of hours away from the pitches. Station Farm is barely a mile away, which means families can do a proper morning outing without traveling far. The paths are well-trodden and mostly level, so it works for average walkers and older kids who can manage a decent trek without complaining.

Go on a weekday if you can - it won't be rammed, and you'll actually hear the birds. Autumn's decent here when the beech colours up. Allow two hours maximum unless you're the type who sits on logs philosophizing about trees. It's free to access and there's no gatehouse or visitor infrastructure, which keeps it unspoiled and local. Honest woodland walking rather than a day's entertainment, but that's rather the point.
