Badbury Hill

Badbury Hill rises abruptly from the Warwickshire countryside just outside Henley-in-Arden, and it's the sort of place that rewards a proper walk even if the summit itself is modest. The climb takes maybe twenty minutes depending on fitness, and once you're up there the views open out across the surrounding farmland - nothing dramatic, but genuinely pleasant on a clear day.

It's an Iron Age fort, though you won't find much in the way of visible remains beyond the earthwork banks. History types will get something from that context, but walkers are honestly here for the walk itself and the vantage point over the Arden landscape. Families with young kids might find it a bit of a non-event - there's nowhere to play up top and the hill itself can feel steep on tired legs.

The site is free and accessible year-round, though there's not much in terms of facilities. Go midweek if you want peace, weekends can get busier with local walkers. Allow an hour for a leisurely visit including the ascent and a rest at the top.

It fits well into a broader walking holiday from any of the nearby parks - Wootton Park Glamping Pods and Island Meadow are closest - and pairs nicely with exploring Henley-in-Arden's High Street or pushing further towards Stratford. Don't expect it to consume your afternoon, but it's absolutely worth the detour if you're in the area and fancy some fresh air.
