Round Hill

Standing at 266 metres, this modest summit near Henley-in-Arden won't challenge serious hikers but delivers surprisingly decent views across the Warwickshire countryside. The walk up through mixed woodland is pleasant enough - about 45 minutes from the nearest parking spot - though the final approach can get muddy after rain.

Families with older children will find it manageable, but toddlers might struggle with the steeper sections. Dog walkers seem to love it here, and you'll likely encounter more four-legged visitors than two-legged ones on weekday mornings.

From the top, you can pick out the spire of Henley-in-Arden's church on clear days, plus a good stretch of the surrounding farmland. It's not spectacular, but it's properly peaceful up there - just the sound of wind through the trees and the odd buzzard circling overhead.

The summit itself is unremarkable - no dramatic rock formations or ancient monuments, just a small clearing with a worn footpath marker. Allow two hours for the round trip if you want to take your time and actually enjoy the woodland walk rather than just bagging the peak.
