Closest town is Belper itself, which has the usual facilities, and if you're based at The Firs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite just up the road, it's barely a walk away. Golden Valley and Poplars Farm are both within five miles if you want slightly more space.

The real sell here is that it doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. You get riverside nature without the theme park treatment, which means it's either exactly what you want or completely missable depending on your holiday mood.
