The moment you arrive at Bibury Trout Farm, you're struck by how the River Coln runs right through the place - crystal clear and absolutely teeming with fish. It's one of those attractions that sounds niche until you actually get there and realise it's genuinely absorbing for a couple of hours.

You can wander the pathways between the open-air raceways and watch thousands of rainbow and brown trout from fingerling stage right up to hefty adults. There's something hypnotic about it. The farm sells fish to restaurants across the Cotswolds, but they're serious about letting visitors feed the stock - bring bread or buy pellets, and you'll see why kids lose their minds here. The whole operation is low-key and unmissable if you're already exploring Bibury village, which is about five minutes away and frankly one of the most photographed corners of England.

If you're staying at Great Farm just down the road - a top-rated spot with proper facilities - this makes an easy morning out before heading to bigger attractions. Mayfield Park is also within striking distance if you want variety across your week. The farm itself is free to walk around and watch, though you'll pay a few quid if you want to feed the fish. Allow an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you've got young kids who get properly into it. Go midweek in spring or early summer when it's quieter and the light's lovely on the water.
