There's no visitor centre or café, no entrance fee or opening hours to worry about. Just a walk around the perimeter where you can actually breathe.

The water itself isn't dramatic - this isn't a mountain lake with cliffs looming overhead - but that's partly the appeal. Families find it manageable, walkers appreciate the undemanding circuit, and birdwatchers turn up when the seasons shift. Allow an hour to loop it comfortably, longer if you're the type to stop and stare.

If you're based at Roselands Caravan Camping Park or Foxglove Field Glamping, both within five miles, this works as a proper leg-stretcher between beach days. Polmanter Touring Park and St. Ives Holiday Village are also close enough for an afternoon detour.
