Madron Well Chapel

The chapel sits in a quiet valley near Bosulval, accessible only by foot down a narrow wooded path. It's genuinely remote - the sort of place where you half expect to stumble upon something ancient, and you do. What remains is a small stone building, possibly 15th century, built directly over a holy well that locals have used for centuries. The water still flows. There's no visitor centre, no interpretation boards, no one taking money at the gate. Just the chapel, the well, and the weight of time.

This is absolutely worth the short walk if you're interested in folk religion and how pre-Christian traditions got folded into Christianity without any real fuss. Families might find it underwhelming - there's no play area and you can see the whole thing in twenty minutes. But if you're the type who gets a kick out of genuine medieval remains and genuine pilgrimage sites rather than polished heritage attractions, it's special.

The path can be muddy and the site itself is entirely unmanaged, so go when the ground's reasonably dry and don't expect facilities. It costs nothing and takes about an hour round trip from the car park, depending on your pace. Perfectly doable if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Roselands, St. Ives Holiday Village, or Polmanter - all within a few miles. Combine it with a walk around the moorland nearby. No Instagram factor whatsoever. That's rather the point.
