Brunskay Pond

The walk down to Brunskay Pond from near Bedale rewards you with a proper stretch of open water that most tourists miss entirely. It's the sort of place locals know about but rarely make it onto visitor itineraries, which means you'll likely have the banks to yourself on a weekday afternoon.

The pond itself is calm and reflective, surrounded by rough grass and the occasional tree - nothing manicured, nothing overdone. It's genuinely pleasant for a stroll, particularly if you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots like Camp Kátur, which sits just under two miles away. The walk takes maybe thirty to forty minutes at a leisurely pace, and there's enough space to let children run about without worrying they'll fall straight into the water.

Don't expect facilities here. There's no café, no visitor centre, no play equipment. What you get is silence, the occasional bird, and enough room to breathe.
