Bryn Albro

Bryn Albro is a modest hill above Cardigan that rewards a short walk with proper views across Cardigan Bay and the Teifi Valley. It's not a dramatic peak - nothing like the Brecon Beacons - but it's accessible enough for families and the footpath is reasonably well-trodden, starting from near the town itself.

The summit gives you sight lines down to the coast and back inland toward the green rolling farmland that makes this part of Pembrokeshire worth the bother. On a clear day you can pick out features for miles. Cloudy? You'll still see enough to justify the leg-work, though the magic does disappear a bit.

Allow 90 minutes to two hours including the climb and a sit-down at the top with a thermos. Kids aged six and up will manage it without complaint, though younger ones might find the scramble tedious. It's free, of course - just a walk.

It works well as a morning's outing if you're staying at Cardigan Bay Holiday Park or any of the caravan sites dotted within a couple of miles of town. Pair it with a proper lunch in Cardigan itself or push on toward Mwnt Beach, which is worth the drive. The real value is that it's quick, costs nothing, and gets you up high enough to feel like you've actually got somewhere. Don't expect solitude or anything wild - it's more a proper local walk than a wilderness adventure.
