Bushy Copse

Bushy Copse is a proper woodland walk just outside Stockbridge, the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think. It's not a grand visitor attraction with signs and facilities - just dense, atmospheric woodland that gives you a genuine sense of escape without needing to drive hours. The forest floor is soft underfoot, paths wind between mature trees, and in spring the whole place comes alive with bluebells and birdsong.

This is a walker's woodland rather than a destination for passive sightseeing. Budget a good hour to two hours depending on how far you want to roam, and bring proper footwear because it gets muddy. The paths can be a bit tangled in places, which adds to the charm but means you won't be rushing through. Kids will either love exploring the undergrowth or find it dull depending on their patience for unstructured wandering - there's no playground drama here.

You're looking at free access, which is typical for working woodland in Hampshire. Come in autumn when the canopy thins and you get better light, or early morning in summer when it's cool. It pairs nicely with a stay at The Meadow Glamping just down the road - you could do a morning walk here, then relax back at the site in the afternoon. Stockbridge itself is worth a wander for lunch if you need civilisation. Don't expect signposting or interpretation boards; come for the peace and the trees, not the experience design.
