Cadwell Park

If you're anywhere near Louth, Cadwell Park is the sort of place that'll either thrill you or leave you cold depending on what you're after. It's a motor racing circuit - proper proper, with a history stretching back decades - set in the Lincolnshire countryside where the landscape rolls gentle and the grass verges are wide. The track itself has character. You get that low-key British racing vibe without the mega-corporate polish of Silverstone or Brands Hatch.

The real draw is watching cars tear around the circuit. Race days bring everything from club-level saloons to classic sports cars, and if you time it right, the atmosphere is genuinely electric. The crowds stay small and accessible - you're not fighting through thousands to find a decent vantage point. Day trips work brilliantly; you can spend three or four hours watching qualifying and races without feeling like you've committed your entire weekend.

It's not for everyone, mind. If motorsport leaves you cold, there's not much else here - no museum, no café culture, just racing. But for petrolheads and anyone curious about grassroots motorsport, it punches above its weight. Families with car-mad kids will get proper value from it.

Louth is five minutes down the road, so you can easily combine it with exploring the town proper. Base yourself at one of the nearby campsites - Three Horseshoes or Oxcombe are both close - and you've got a solid weekend. Check their race calendar before you go; there's no point showing up on a quiet Thursday.
