Checkhill Farm Dog Field and Woodland Walk

The woodland path at Checkhill Farm delivers exactly what it promises - nothing fancy, just decent walking through proper countryside a few miles outside Kidderminster. You get the trees, the open field where dogs can actually run without a lead (hence the name), and enough space to breathe without bumping into crowds.

It's the sort of place locals know and visitors often miss, which means weekday visits are genuinely peaceful. The field itself is the main draw - straightforward for dog owners, tedious for anyone without a canine companion unless you're after a straightforward country walk. The woodland section adds texture, though don't expect stunning vistas or dramatic topography. Allow an hour if you're dawdling, forty minutes if you're purposeful.

Families with young kids might find it a touch underwhelming unless the dog angle applies. There's no visitor infrastructure that I could spot - no café, no facilities, no visitor centre theatre. Bring water. It works brilliantly as a morning loop before heading to Wolverley Camping and Caravanning Club Site five miles away, or as a way to tire out the spaniel before a longer holiday park day.

The free admission (assumed, given the farm setting) makes it worthwhile including if you're in the area. It's not the sort of place you'd plan a trip around, but if you're staying locally and need to stretch legs and let dogs loose, it ticks the box without fuss.
