Church Pool

The water sits quiet and still, ringed by trees that lean in close enough to cast proper shadows across the surface. Church Pool, a few miles outside Warwick, is one of those places that doesn't announce itself - you'll miss it entirely if you're not looking.

It's a small lake, really, more of a large pond if you're being honest. Walkers find their way here because it's on a decent footpath loop, and the water reflects the sky in a way that makes phone cameras work harder than usual. The banks are accessible in places, though you won't find facilities or anything polished. Bring binoculars if you're into birds - they like it here.

This isn't a destination you'd drive to specifically from across the country. But if you're camping at one of the local sites - The Apple Farm or Twitey's Meadows are both within easy reach - it makes for a pleasant morning walk before breakfast or a quiet spot to stretch your legs in the afternoon. The kind of place where you might see a fisherman, or you might see nobody at all.

It's free to access and takes maybe thirty minutes to walk round properly, or longer if you stop to actually look at things. The best time is early morning when the light's soft and the place feels genuinely peaceful rather than just empty. Families with young children probably won't find much to hold their attention, but anyone after a bit of calm without the crowds will do alright here.
