Cistern Green viewpoint to the estuary

The walk up to Cistern Green takes about twenty minutes from Perth, and honestly, it's worth setting aside an hour if you're not in a rush. You get proper views down the estuary from here - wide, sweeping ones that remind you why people banged on about Scottish landscapes in the first place. The path itself is straightforward enough, nothing too taxing, so families with younger kids or anyone who doesn't fancy a proper hike can manage it without complaint.

What you're looking at is the Firth of Tay stretching out below, and depending on the light and weather, it ranges from genuinely striking to frankly a bit dull. Go on a clear day and you'll see why folk trek up here. The viewpoint isn't posh - no café, no gift shop - which means you're getting the view without the tourist apparatus. It's the sort of spot where you stand for five minutes, take some photos, and either head back or wander round the surrounding area if you've got time.

If you're staying at Snugs at Logie Farm or one of the other parks nearby, this makes an easy morning excursion before lunch. The Certificated Site is closer but members-only, so unless you're a club regular, Snugs is your best bet. Perth's close enough that you could combine this with a walk round the town itself. Not essential, but if you're in the area and the weather's decent, an hour up here beats sitting in a visitor centre.
