About Clachaig Gully
It's a mile or so of gully walking - nothing technical, but you will get wet feet and need a head for heights. The best bit comes early: watching the gorge squeeze tighter ahead while the light gets weird between the rock faces. Kids who like splashing about will find it brilliant; anyone prone to vertigo might feel a bit exposed. Allow a couple of hours if you're taking photos and going slow.
Timing matters. After heavy rain it becomes genuinely sketchy, with the water level right up. Go in dry spells - you'll spot the best route and actually enjoy the scramble rather than fighting a river. Early morning is quieter and the light's sharper through the gully.
It works well as a half-day venture if you're based at Red Squirrel Campsite or Invercoe, both minutes away. Pair it with a walk up towards Glen Coe proper - Clachaig sits at the bottom of that valley and acts as a proper appetiser for bigger days out. Not a destination in itself, but an excellent starter walk that punches well above its weight.
