Just east of Cambridge, Comberton Leisure is a proper community sports facility that punches above its weight. You'll find tennis courts, a swimming pool, and various activity spaces - the sort of place locals actually use rather than tourist crowds queuing round the block.

It's genuinely useful if you're based nearby on a caravan or camping holiday and want to keep the kids active on a rainy afternoon, or if you're after a proper swim without fighting your way through the leisure centre in town. The pool is decent enough, and the grounds are well-maintained. Tennis players will find what they need here too.

The main appeal is convenience rather than spectacle. If you're staying at Highfield Farm Touring Park just 1.2 miles away, or Cambridge Camping and Caravanning Club Site five miles north, it's worth knowing about. Less gimmicky than the big commercial places, and you won't feel like you're paying over the odds for basic facilities.

Admission costs and exact opening hours vary seasonally, so ring ahead before you go - don't assume anything. Allow a couple of hours if you're doing a swim and activity session with kids. It's not the sort of destination you plan your whole holiday around, but as a local facility for park guests wanting to break up their stay, it does the job. On decent weather days, honestly, the university parks and the Backs are far nicer.
