Corry's Crag

The walk up to Corry's Crag is steep enough to leave you breathing properly, but once you're standing at the top, Belfast spreads out below in a way that makes the climb entirely worth it. This viewpoint sits high above Lisburn and Castlereagh, giving you the sort of panoramic view that's tricky to find once you're inside the city itself.

It's a proper spot for walkers - the kind of place where you'll see locals with their dogs on a Sunday morning, which always tells you something's worth the effort. The views stretch across the city and down towards the lough on clear days, and the whole thing takes about twenty minutes of uphill slog from the car park. Bring decent shoes rather than trainers.

Families with older kids will manage it fine, though younger ones might complain about the gradient. On a grey Belfast day it's merely pleasant; in decent weather it's excellent. History types won't find much here in terms of sites - it's purely about the vantage point - but that's rather the point.

If you're based at Dundonald Touring Caravan Park or The Pods at Streamvale just down the road, this makes for a straightforward afternoon outing without needing to venture too far from your pitch. Free to visit, obviously, and you can spend as long as you like once you're up there. The walk back down is easier on the knees than the way up, at least.
