Crail Raceway

Go-kart racing on the Fife coast isn't what you'd expect to find just outside Anstruther, but here's Crail Raceway - a proper adrenaline fix if you're staying in the caravan parks dotted around this stretch. It's an outdoor track where you can either drive a kart yourself or watch others tear around, and it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretension.

The track itself is compact but competitive. Lap times matter here, and you'll find groups of regulars who've clearly spent more than a few sessions perfecting their racing lines. If you're the type who enjoys competitive sport, you'll appreciate the setup. Families with kids old enough to drive independently will get the most out of it - there's genuine fun in watching a ten-year-old discover they're actually quite quick.

You're only minutes from Anstruther and well placed to base yourself at Sauchope Links Holiday Lodge just up the road, or any of the other parks within a couple of miles. Crail itself is worth a wander afterwards - fishing village charm, decent fish and chips, proper coastal scenery. The raceway works well as an afternoon activity rather than an all-day thing. Allow a couple of hours, longer if you're booking multiple races or waiting for a spot during busy periods.
